Alt Strasse's Burger

ALT STRASSE

This one has been the first place I visit with the intention of commenting it. I went with Ariza and David, two good friends of mine from the university, we went there to unplug from the stress of the exams, and truly, we chose the right place to do that.

It's a brewery placed near the Gijon city hall square, it has an illumination that sometimes shines for its absence, although the atmosphere inside the pub is perfect.
It's perfect if you want to enjoy a cold beer with your pals while listening to rock music at a volume that allows you to chat with them without screaming all out.
The decoration is simple, the typical brewery decoration, but the pictures in the walls are pretty cool, they're made of beer labels.

The place is divided into two parts, the bar zone, with few tables and a little diner in the background, where we sit to have dinner.
We decided to go back to basics, some potatoes with two sauces to eat between the three of us and after a dish each one.
The potatoes weren't any special, but we ended up "licking" the plate, because the sauces, spicy and blue cheese, were amazing and were really abundant.

We drank some beers of the extense amount the pub has to offer.
David and me decided to try a pint of Spaten, a munich lager, and Ariza didn't come out of his schemes and drank his Weihenstephan, a wheat beer he has every Friday.

As a dish, we all went straight to the meat, David and Ariza had the Star course of this place, THE BURGER.
It's a Black Angus meat burger that, by the moment is the only place I know where they have it. You can choose between 200 grames or 400. The 200 one is pretty big, but Mr Ariza encouraged to eat the big one, it extra to say he  ended the dinner like a king.
The burger is pretty basic, just the minced meat between the bums, no lettuce, no tomato, no cheese, not even a sauce; just the flavour of an espectacular meat.

I decided to get out of the burger plan to attack a hot dog with sauerkraut, for people who doesn't know what this is, it's white wine cabbage, it may sound unappetizing, but it has a really nice sweet and sour flavour. The waiter had the detail to divide the hot dog into two small ones, which I appreciated because it was easier to eat them that way, he also gave me ketchup and mustard separated in two little cups, from where I had to get some.
I must say that, even the hot dog wasn´t bad, I regretted not to take the burger, but it doesn't matter, I suppose we'll be back there someday.

The service is a little slow, mainly because only one guy handles all the bar waiting, and on Friday, the pub was full, adding to this that serving the beers he took a long time, I don't know if he did this because these german beers take time to rest or because he forgot them at the bar.
One thing I've got no complain about is the kindness of the guy, you can talk to him a while and he worries about your meal, asking how do you want the meat to be cooked,if you like your food, we must not forget that this place isn't a restaurant, is a brewery,I really loved those details.
To finish, I want to let you read the menu, it's pretty hard to find it on the internet,so here you got.

The pub opens every day from 5 PM until 12 AM, it's a really good place to have some beers or a small dinner, but even though I consider it a compulsory destination to every meat lover and good music listener.

Another place next week!
